Thames Water is seeking a project manager to work within their Thame Valley Delivery office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing new projects within the Thames Valley Sewage treatment works. This role involves working with a team of engineers, preparing design deliverables, identifying and mitigating project risks, and providing support during the commissioning and handover of assets. The position is based in Reading and requires the candidate to have access to a car. The role offers a competitive salary, 26-30 days of annual leave, a contributory pension, and other benefits.
Job Description:The role of the project manager within the Thame Valley Delivery office at Thames Water is to ensure we are developing our Waste Networks cost-effectively and safely and providing the best to the communities we serve while completing the projects.
The projects the successful candidate will be working on are designing and developing new projects within our Thames Valley Sewage treatment works to ensure we can develop and deliver the best service when disposing of wastewater at Thames Water.
What you’ll be doing as a Project Manager
- Work with a team of engineers on the design of various water and wastewater network projects.
- Prepare design deliverables to meet project milestones comprising scope definition, health and safety documentation, design reports, and other supporting information.
- Take an active role in developing designs from the initial concept design and feasibility stage to contract award.
- Identify, analyse, mitigate project risks, and realise opportunities to enable scope definition and robust pricing by contractors.
- Assure the detailed design undertaken by contractors and any design change during construction.
- Be responsible for providing the Project Teams with the support they need during the commissioning and handover of assets.
Hybrid – Clearwater Court – Reading, you will be expected to be present at the office and sites during your working week.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday, we are open to full-time and part-time opportunities for this role.

What you should bring to the role
- Hold an Engineering HNC or master’s degree in a specific Engineering discipline.
- Have a background in producing design documentation in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Know the project’s life cycle and how to communicate this with external and internal stakeholders.

- Competitive salary from £46,000 per annum to £60,000 per annum.
