A secondary school in East Birmingham is seeking a Maths ECT to join their maths department and help improve pupil attainment. The role is full-time and permanent, starting in September 2024, and offers a salary of £28,000 per annum. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Maths to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils, planning and marking assessments, and tracking student progress. They should have or be due to complete a PGCE or have recently gained QTS. Experience working with SEN and strong behavior management skills are desirable. The school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and offers support for ECT induction.

The Maths ECT Role:
As a Maths ECT, you will be teaching Maths to pupils across the school in Key Stages 3 and 4. As a Maths ECT, you will not teach higher ability GCSE classes, however you will be expected to teach Foundation GCSE, as well as delivering Maths lessons to pupils in Key Stage 3 following the national curriculum. You will be responsible for planning, marking and assessments, as well as tracking the progress of your students. You will be expected to engage in wider-school activities such as assemblies and trips.
 
The Maths ECT:
For this Maths ECT vacancy, you must be due to complete your PGCE this academic year, or have recently gained QTS. This role is only suitable for Maths ECTs who are looking to begin/complete their induction and will be committed to upholding the school’s values and principles consistently. Ideally, you will be a Maths ECT with experience working with SEN, and you should be able to demonstrate strong behaviour management skills, as well as a good ability to build a rapport with the pupils you support.
