A well-established legal firm is partnering with Appoint Consulting to hire an experienced Conveyancing Assistant/Fee Earner for their Conveyancing Department. The role involves providing cost-effective administration and legal support to the partner and other fee earners in the department. Responsibilities include handling a caseload of files, preparing legal documents, conducting title searches, and providing advice to clients. The ideal candidate should have experience in a similar role, in-depth knowledge of property laws and regulations, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. Job Description:
Appoint Consulting is proud to be working with a well-established, forward-thinking legal firm to recruit an experienced Conveyancing Assistant/Fee Earner to join their Conveyancing Department (Residential).
Purpose of the role:
To provide cost-effective administration and legal support to the partner and other fee earners in the team in the work of the Department.
Key duties and responsibilities
· Handling own caseload of files from instruction, to issuing proceedings and enforcement and under the supervision of a more senior fee earner
· Prepare and review legal documents related to property transactions
· Conduct title searches
· Provide advice and guidance to clients regarding property laws & regulations
· Undertake certain elements of fee-earning work under supervision
· Completion of client questionnaires
· Drafting of petition/court documentation
· Attendance at routine meetings
· General administrative tasks, including monthly reporting on cases for client purposes and invoicing of files.
· Deputise for fee earners in their absence if necessary, passing urgent issues to another senior fee earner for guidance (if a small team).
· Use the firm’s IT solutions to implement, manage, and maintain own diary system to ensure the efficient progress of own caseload
· Seek assistance whenever appropriate from Partner/colleagues in respect of unusual or difficult problems/issues arising in any cases
· Contribute towards your own self-development and attend training arranged for you
· Provide support to other fee earners as required
· Report immediately to the Partner on any issue/complaint re: professional conduct and/or client dissatisfaction and/or potential negligence or negative cost implications for the firm
· Promote good relations with other members of staff and facilitate teamwork
Requirements:
· Experience within a similar role
· Ability to work on own initiative and to deadlines
· In-depth knowledge of property laws and regulations
· Great attention to detail and communication skills are required
· Proficient in using conveyancing software and other relevant tools
· Bachelor’s degree in Law or a related field (preferred)
