Job Description:This is a fantastic career opportunity for an Engineering Project Manager who wants to join a highly collaborative and supportive team in our Capital Maintenance Projects and deliver modern and innovative solutions to our operational sites.
We are looking to recruit engineers with, mechanical, electrical, civil or chemical backgrounds.
Base locations can be flexible across Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Sussex, Oxfordshire Surrey, and surrounding areas.
These are mainly site-based roles, with travel across our operational areas.
There is significant investment across our Operations sites, so you will be in a position to make a genuine difference by improving our process performance and efficiency, thereby making life easier for our operations colleagues and delivering value for money for our customers.
What you’ll be doing as an Engineering Project Manager
You will manage the end-to-end delivery of either single high-value or multiple small to medium-sized engineering projects. These will be associated with upgrades & refurbishments of either Wastewater or Water Treatment Plants within the business.
Using your commercial skills, you will be ‘scoping the need’, tendering the work, and procuring contractors. You will be involved with site set-up and inductions, health and safety inspections, all the way through to commissioning, training and then handing back the completed project.
Your main areas of focus will include:
- Health and safety management for your portfolio of projects.
- Writing specification documents.
- Assessing tenders.
- Financial management.
- Programme management.
- Technical assurance.
- Communication with key stakeholders and customers.
- Ensuring all asset data is captured and updated at the end of a project.
What you should bring to the role
We welcome applications from a variety of engineering and project engineering backgrounds such as other utilities including water, railways, telecoms, petrochemical, and power industries. Also, relevant experience within the construction industry or if you are due to leave or have left the Military with project engineering experience.
We are looking for you to have:
- Experience within a commercial and/or technical role.
- Ideally hold at least BTEC/HND in mechanical, electrical, chemical or civil engineering.
- An awareness of Health and Safety and CDM 2015.
- Experience managing the delivery, design and estimating of engineering projects.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have your transport.
- The ability to work unsupervised and use your initiative to deliver specified outputs.
- Graduates will be considered that have some experience within an operations background.
