Water Quality Scientist – Hybrid format

111Job Description:In this key role you’ll be responsible for assessing water quality risk at network depots to deliver regulatory obligations associated with Drinking Water Safety Plans (DWSPs).

What you’ll be doing as a Water Quality Scientist

  • Complete Regulation risk assessments for network depots in line with Drinking Water Safety Plan (DWSP) obligations. Travel to depot sites across the Thames Water area will be necessary.
  • Complete DWSP updates on the company’s bespoke DWSP IT system to meet regulatory requirements and internal programme.
  • Actively seek to develop expertise in water quality aspects of distribution water quality, as well as regulatory requirements relating to DWSPs.
  • Participate in the Water Quality Risk Review process to validate existing DWSP risks and identify emerging ones, escalating significant risks within governance parameters.
  • Participate in routine system management activities for DWSP IT to ensure regulatory obligations can be met.

This is a hybrid role. Base Location – Clearwater Court in Reading, RG1 2DB.
Working hours: 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm.

What you should bring to the role

  • Be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Have water industry experience in a relevant role.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders across the business.
  • Be competent in using Microsoft Office software and preferably with some experience using company systems e.g. DWSP IT, EQUIS, Sample Manager.
  • Possess a proactive, can-do attitude as this is key to success in the role.
  • Be open-minded, supporting and developing new methods of working, and able to manage workloads.
