The volunteer support role aims to provide guidance and assistance to young adults in areas such as benefits, volunteering, training, employment, budgeting, and emotional development. Volunteers will follow Nugent's safeguarding procedures and complete mandatory training before engaging with young people. Responsibilities include advocating for individuals, signposting them to specialist services for health and wellbeing, and offering advice on tenancy rights and responsibilities. Essential qualities for this role include professionalism, creativity, and the ability to build positive relationships while promoting respect, dignity, and inclusivity among service users. Effective communication in various forms is also crucial.
The volunteer support role will be focused on guidance and support for young adults. These may include accessing benefits, volunteering, training and employment, developing budgeting skills, supporting social and emotional development and support of tenancies. Supporting young adults with advice, guidance and signposting to relevant agencies where required.
Summary of main activities and tasks
Follow Nugent Safeguarding and reporting procedures, policy and procedures to keep people safe
To complete Nugent mandatory safeguarding training before commencing role with young people
Provide advocacy on behalf of people we support with other agencies
Supporting and signposting young adults to specialist services to improve health & wellbeing (for example drug & alcohol services, counselling, mental health services etc.)
To guide young adults on their rights and responsibilities as tenants of the accommodation provided
