We are recruiting an experienced TRANSPORT OPERATIONS MANAGER for our well-known Transport/Logistics client based in Birmingham B35.  This is a TEMP-PERM opportunity starting immediately.

Hours of work:
8am – 5pm

Days of work:
Monday to Friday

Salary:
£38,000-£42,000 depending on skills and experience

Location:
Birmingham, B35

Responsibilities:

  • Planning: To ensure organizational efficiency, develop and implement operational policies, standards, and procedures.                                                                                                                  
  • Budgeting: Oversee financial and budgetary activities to fund operations.                                                                                                                     
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise staff. Ensure staff performance aligns with company goals.                                                                                                                                                                                                        
  • Resource Allocation: Ensure that resources (human, technological, and financial) are used efficiently and effectively.                                                                                                                    
  • Process Improvement: Constantly review workflows and processes to make them more efficient and cost-effective.                                                                                                                      
  • Quality Control: Ensure that products/services meet quality standards set by the organization.                                                                                                                                                    
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage with other managers, suppliers, and clients to ensure operations align with company goals and customer needs.                                                                                                                      
  • Risk Management: Identify operational risks and ensure they are addressed promptly and effectively.                                                                                                                   
  • Report Generation: Regularly report on operational performance to senior management.                                                                                                              
  • Problem-solving: Address any issues or bottlenecks in the production or service delivery process.                                                                                                            
  • Continuous improvement: Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, implementing best practices, and fostering a learning environment.                                                                                                                     

Requirements:

  • Transport industry experience (pallet network preferred)
  • National Transport Managers CPC
  • A deep understanding of driver and vehicle compliance
  • A customer focussed perspective
  • IT Literate including in-house systems and MS Office programs.
  • A strong background in the Transport/Logistics industry
