Job Summary by the Career Balance Team:

A company is seeking an experienced Toolroom Machinist with knowledge of manual machining and CNC milling. The machinist will be responsible for manufacturing and repairing production tooling, fixtures, and equipment, and must have experience with a range of toolroom machinery and techniques. A relevant engineering craft qualification is required, and the candidate must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and have good communication skills. The position offers a salary of £30k-£35k, 26 days of holiday, a company profit-related bonus, private medical insurance, and an excellent pension scheme.

Job Description:

Toolroom Machinist

£30k-£35k depending on experience, 26 days holiday + BH, 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and Midday finish Friday, company profit related bonus, Private Medical (after qualifying period), Amazing pension scheme and death in service x 4 annual salary.

We are looking for a experienced Toolroom Machinist with excellent knowledge of manual machining and associated techniques. A knowledge of CNC Milling is a distinct advantage.

Toolroom Machinist duties

  • Working mainly within the Toolroom, assisting in the manufacture and repair of production tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Working closely to engineering drawings and with collaboration with colleagues.
  • The role will require experience in the use of a range of toolroom machinery and techniques, essentially Milling, Turning, Grinding, and Fitting.
  • CNC Milling experience is an advantage (XYZ), and/ or a willingness to learn and develop programming skills.
  • Repair and maintenance of tooling within the production facility where required.

Toolroom Machinist requirements

  • A relevant Engineering Craft qualification required (e.g. C&G, ONC, NVQ)
  • Self-motivation is essential within a small team serving the whole production facility.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility, the candidate will be involved in all aspects of tooling manufacture and repair.
  • Will be keen to develop the necessary skills where required.
  • Good knowledge of measuring equipment and practice.
  • Bench fitting techniques: drilling/ tapping/ reaming/ build-up of tooling to assembly drawings.
  • Adherence to the Company`s Health & Safety policy
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail and desire to deliver high standards
