Amicus is seeking Therapeutic Childcare Practitioners for its residential care homes in Littlehampton and Fontwell, West Sussex. The starting salary is £28,000 per annum, with potential increases for qualified candidates. *Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner (Children’s Residential Care)*
*Location: *Roles available in Littlehampton and Fontwell (near Arundel), West Sussex
*Salary: *£28,000 pa starting salary (unqualified). £28,480pa – qualified – Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, earning up to £30,205pa
*Hours: *Permanent full time (40 hrs a week : shift work which includes working some evenings and weekends and on average 1 x sleep-in a week)
We provide therapeutic residential care for vulnerable and traumatised children between the ages of 4 to 11 on referral.
Our approach is a model of care that combines a safe, nurturing and managed environment that puts relationships and thinking at the core of genuine therapeutic change in our homes.
In this way, we provide a unique approach to residential therapeutic work.
This is a challenging, but uniquely rewarding role, with lots of scope for development & progression. We are looking for flexible, calm, resilient and creative individuals who have a passion in wanting to make a difference to the lives of traumatised children.
The role of Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner is to provide care, nurture and support to our vulnerable and traumatised children in our residential homes and to engage in reflective practice. You will be committed to improving the mental and emotional health of children and assist them in beginning to work through and recover from their trauma and difficulties in a safe and warm therapeutic environment. Supporting children to understand the impact of their pasts and corresponding behaviours and feelings and manage healthier relationships and develop their trust and self-esteem.
If you are unqualified, Amicus fund the course and pay for time and support you to complete and achieve the required Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare for this role.

Amicus is a children’s therapeutic community accredited by The Royal College of Psychiatrists providing therapeutic residential care and education to vulnerable and traumatised children aged 4 to 16 years old (up to age 11 on referral).
