Position: Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant

A reputable SEN special school in Rugeley is currently seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to support students with complex needs and SEMH. This is a full-time position starting after February half-term and continuing until the end of the academic year.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to secondary age students with complex needs and SEMH.
  • Assist students in achieving their individual targets and academic goals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with the school’s multidisciplinary team.
  • Prepare learning materials that are appropriate for the student ability and age.
  • Adapt teaching support according to students needs
  • Look after the children’s physical, social and emotional welfare.
  • Creating a positive and interesting learning environment.
  • Attend review meetings with other professionals.
  • Work along side other professional such as speech and language therapists and health visitors

Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting secondary age students with additional needs.
  • Track record of successfully supporting students in achieving their individual targets.
  • Understanding and familiarity with complex needs and SEMH.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
  • Hold a minimum of a level 2 in Health and Social Care or similar qualification
  • Able to provide a minimum of a 2 years worth of references.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS or willing to apply for a new one
