Role Overview

As a Teacher of Religious Education you will:

  • Teach Religious Education in accordance with the appropriate syllabus and the National Curriculum Programme of study.

  • Assess, record, and report the performance of students, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.

  • Uphold high standards of preparation, teaching, and discipline.

  • Plan lessons in accordance with schemes of work and liaise with relevant colleagues on collaborative delivery.

  • Track student progress and maintain up-to-date records.

  • Set and mark examinations and other forms of assessment.

  • Use ICT within the curriculum.

  • Oversee, contribute, and support departmental activity beyond the curriculum.

  • Establish high and appropriate expectations for learning, motivation, and presentation of work.

  • Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme by offering a club/activity.

  • Carry out lunch, break, and cover duties as reasonably assigned.

  • Contribute to the activities and administration of one of the five year groups as a form tutor.

  • Attend assemblies and participate in the professional development programme.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.

  • Possess successful teaching experience at the secondary level.

  • Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.

  • Demonstrate high expectations and a commitment to equality of access for all students.

  • Have knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4.

  • Are adept at using ICT, including interactive whiteboards, to enhance learning.

  • Can work collaboratively within a team and maintain positive relationships with staff and students.

  • Exhibit excellent time management and communication skills.
