A care organization in St Annes is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide comprehensive care for a woman with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and complex mental health needs. The role involves assisting with daily tasks, supporting community access, providing reassurance and emotional support, managing mental health crises, conducting trigger awareness and risk assessments, collaborating with health professionals, maintaining a safe home environment, and supporting the individual’s favorite activities. The successful candidate should have previous experience in mental health support, particularly with individuals diagnosed with DID and associated conditions, and possess effective communication skills and empathy. Complex Mental Health Support Practitioner

Location: St Annes

Salary: £14

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide comprehensive care for a woman with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) in St Annes. The individual has complex mental health needs, including PTSD and an eating disorder. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting her well-being and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Tasks and Person-centred Care:
  • Provide assistance with daily tasks, maintaining a person-centred approach to ensure individual needs and preferences are prioritized.

  • Community Access and Safety:
  • Support the individual in accessing the community safely, fostering social engagement and meaningful connections.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure the environment is conducive to the individual’s well-being.

  • Reassurance and Emotional Support:
  • Offer reassurance and emotional support, recognizing and responding to the individual’s emotional needs.

  • Mental Health Crisis Management:
  • Implement effective crisis management strategies, collaborating with the individual and relevant professionals to ensure a proactive and supportive approach.

  • Trigger Awareness and Risk Assessment:
  • Maintain awareness of potential triggers and conduct ongoing risk assessments to minimize environmental stressors.

  • Collaboration with Health Professionals:
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to implement and monitor care plans.
  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings as required.

  • Maintaining a Safe and Secure Home Environment:
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a safe and secure atmosphere within the individual’s home environment.

  • Support for Pursuing Favourite Activities:
  • Enable the individual to pursue favourite activities, including keeping active, spending time outdoors, practicing veganism, and engaging with animals.

  • Personal Care and Medication:
  • Prompt and assist with personal care routines.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and support attendance at medical appointments.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in mental health support, particularly with individuals diagnosed with DID and associated conditions.
  • Understanding of PTSD, eating disorders, and mental health crisis management.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a person-centred approach.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with health professionals.

The refer a friend scheme is worth £200 in total. This is split £100 after the person has worked 100 hours and then another £100 when they have passed probation (6 months usually).
