The role involves assisting Pantry shoppers by explaining the Pantry process, including wait times and ensuring they have carrier bags. The individual will support fellow volunteers during busy periods by addressing shoppers' queries about expected waiting times and food options, as well as directing them to appropriate services when needed. Additionally, the role includes aiding new members with registration forms, both online and on paper, and keeping the Member Registration Volunteer informed about sign-up progress. Good communication, customer care skills, patience, and a welcoming attitude are essential for success in this position.

This role will help Pantry shoppers understand the Pantry process, explaining wait times and checking shoppers have carrier bags. They will also support other volunteers at busy periods by managing queries from member shoppers which could range from expected waiting times, questions about food and signposting to other services if the Pantry is not the right place for them. The role will also be required to support new registrations by helping new members to complete membership forms online or on paper.

Summary of main activities and tasks

Supporting individuals with completing registration forms either online or on paper.

Keeping the Member Registration Volunteer up to date with progress of new member sign ups

Chatting with, and supporting members that may require signposting to other agencies with information booklets on hand

Reminding members of expected behaviour whilst in the Pantry setting.

Qualities / experience / skills

Good communication and customer care skills would be a real asset in this role.
