Acorn School, a specialist provision for neurodiverse individuals with social emotional and mental health needs, Autism, ADHD, and complex behavior, is seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join their Integrated Therapy Team. The therapist will have clinical autonomy and a manageable caseload, with opportunities for CPD and supervision. The successful candidate will work within a neurodiversity-affirming framework and collaborate with psychologists, creative art therapists, and OTs. The role requires at least 2-5 years of experience and registration with HCPC and RCSLT. The school is committed to safeguarding and requires enhanced DBS checks and child protection screenings.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly, supportive and welcoming team. We’re looking for a therapist who is passionate about working in a forward thinking and innovative way, including within a Neurodiversity Affirming framework.
Term-time contracts will also be considered.

This role will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to work autonomously and creatively at Acorn School, Winkleigh, a specialist provision providing learning and supportive environment activities for young people aged 8 – 16 years, designed to meet the needs of neurodiverse individuals with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs, Autism, ADHD and complex behaviour.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a truly therapeutic environment where our dedicated in-house Integrated Therapies Team work seamlessly with education team members to provide meaningful packages of support that enable young people and young adults to reach their individual potential.
What we are looking for:
Ideally at least 2-5 years experience post qualification, with completed NQP competencies,
Must be HCPC and RCSLT registered.
Show commitment to learning and unlearning in relation to the SLT role within Neurodiversity Affirming support.
We will consider someone who could join on a development post to become a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, or individuals who’s registration has lapsed but would like to return to practice.
Applications from candidates who require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route are welcome, however you must have the requirements to register with the HCPC and RCSLT.
