A company in Rochdale is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, inspection, servicing, and parts replacement. The role also involves supervising the engineering function in the absence of the supervisor, managing breakdown calls, and conducting roadside assistance and road testing. The position requires a minimum of a level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent, as well as proficiency in repairing vehicle systems and operating workshop equipment. Reports to: Engineering Supervisor
Location: Rochdale
Working hours: 39hrs p/w
Hourly rate: £20.69 p/h (overtime is available).
Shift Pattern: Open to discussion – multiple options available!

About the role
- To diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, inspection, servicing and parts replacement in accordance with central Engineering Standards and Operating Procedures
- To supervise the engineering function in the absence of the Engineering Supervisor
- MOT Inspection, preparation, and presentation of fleet
- Manage breakdown calls, carryout roadside assistance & road testing of vehicles ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery.
- Cover Sunday call out when rostered.
About you
- Do you hold at minimum, a level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (City & Guilds level 1 & 2)?
- Are you fully conversant with the overhaul and repair of vehicle systems including engines, automatic gearboxes, drive trains, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, and basic auto electrics ?
- Are you fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipment including brake rolling road testers, tracking gauges, hydraulic vehicle lifts, pressurised oil and waste systems, battery chargers and starters, trolley jacks, pit jacks, scaffolding, pressure wash and automatic washing equipment, digital smoke readers, headlamp alignment testers, hydraulic jacks and testing equipment, drilling machines, torque wrenches, pedestal grinders and general portable equipment (i.e. air guns, drills, electric and pneumatic hand tools etc) ?
- Are you fully familiar with all relevant diagnostic equipment including laptop diagnostics, multi meters, temperature gauges, micrometres, vernier gauges?
- Must be in possession of, or capable of obtaining a full PCV licence and forklift truck licence if required.
