Network IT is seeking a Service Desk Team Lead for a permanent position in Swindon. The role involves providing IT support to clients in various research sectors. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for customers, resolving technical issues and delivering exceptional customer service. The role also includes mentoring a small team and acting as an escalation point. Applicants must have the ability to gain Security Clearance. Essential skills include excellent customer service communication, IT support skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows systems. Desired skills include experience with Linux and network design.

Job Description:Network IT is currently in search of a Service Desk Team Lead to become a valuable addition to our client’s team in Swindon on a permanent basis. This role involves contributing to the development of cutting-edge secure solutions for clients in various research sectors, including science and medical fields.
Our client is seeking a Service Desk Team lead with a genuine passion for technology. In this position, you’ll serve as the primary point of contact for both external and internal customers, providing essential IT support. Your responsibilities will include daily interactions with customers via multiple communication channels, including in-person at the desk, over the phone, and through email, depending on their preferences. Your role will also involve troubleshooting and resolving basic technical issues, keeping customers informed with regular updates while delivering exceptional customer service. In addition to this you will look after a small team and be there escalation point as well as act as a mentor.

Employment type: Permanent
Salary Range: Up to £32.5 basic salary
Location: Swindon

This role will require you to work on a weekly rota which includes night shifts.

Essential skills:

  • Excellent customer Service communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Ability to obtain Government Security Clearance (SC) with no restrictions.
  • IT support skills
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Windows 10 and Microsoft Server 2016-2019
  • Active Directory and User Account management
  • General knowledge of basic software installation and network hardware
  • General knowledge of desktop computing
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical support issues

Desired skills:

  • Working with LINUX operating systems
  • Network design and TCP/IP
  • Server backups and restores
  • Operating and configuring monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Icinga
