We are looking for a dynamic individual, who is highly competent in the Highway Electrical and Street Lighting disciplines. Bristol City Council is seeking a relevantly experienced officer to deliver the highway electrical requirements and disciplines on a variety of electrical assets working within the Highway Electrical Asset Team.
The Highway Electrical Asset Team sits within the Highways Maintenance Group who are within Transport Service is at the very forefront of the efforts being made by the City Council and other stakeholders to improve maintain and develop the transport service in our City, for the benefit of its citizens, businesses and visitors. Key to this is the effective maintenance and improvements/refurbishment to all the highway and authority owned estates within the public domain.
The Highways Group delivers its own designs and work programmes, supports other City Council initiatives and major projects, and provides expert technical advice and front-line support to both internal and external agencies and individuals. There is considerable passion, technical experience and expertise within the Group to shape the future wellbeing, success and prosperity of our City.
Highway Maintenance Service consists of 5 Teams covering the City: – Area Highways Team, Strategic Highways Team, Bridges and Structures Team, Highway Electrical Assets Team and Assets and Contracts team. Each team is managed by a Team Manager.
You should have appropriate Electrical and Street Lighting qualifications and relevant previous Electrical and Street Lighting experience along with a proven relevant electrical asset management experience, to support the Highway Electrical Asset Team.
You will have significant relevant experience of Highway Electrical Asset project delivery, design calculations and compliance, delivering continuous performance improvement and the focused delivery of departmental and corporate priorities.
You will play a key role in the delivery of the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Smart City and LED City wide replacement scheme, the annual city-wide and major works programmes and focused delivery of departmental and corporate priorities.
The role will support the development of street lighting and electrical technology advancements maintaining and improving the electrical infrastructure within BCC estate. The role will involve working closely with the Highways group, other Transport services, Strategic partners, Major Project teams and to support the delivery of our ambitious agendas for growth, economic development, and sustainability.
The role will ensure the authority meets its statutory duties to maintain electrical and street lighting assets in accordance with the legal requirements and therefore ensuring a safe and serviceable asset across the authority.
The role would suit a person who is a Highway Electrical and Lighting specialist with significant relevant experience of Highway Electrical and Lighting assets and infrastructure. A individual who thrives on responsibility, continuous performance improvement and customer focus.
