We’re now seeking a talented *Senior NPD Developer* to join our team at our Alconbury Weald campus. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative, commercially minded individual who thrives on innovation, collaboration, and seeing great ideas come to life.
*The Role*
As a *Senior NPD Developer*, you’ll take ownership of product development across key customer accounts, leading New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) projects from concept through to launch.
Working closely with the *Head of Commercial* and cross-functional teams, you’ll ensure all products align with customer needs, category strategies, and MM Flowers’ commitment to quality and creativity. You’ll also play a key leadership role, developing and mentoring the NPD team to deliver best-in-class results.
*Key Responsibilities*
*Product Development & Innovation*
* Lead the end-to-end NPD and EPD process for major and minor customers.
* Design and develop innovative, commercially viable product ranges aligned with business and customer strategies.
* Use consumer and market insights to influence category growth and shape creative solutions.
* Oversee all aspects of product design, testing, and first production to ensure quality and feasibility.
*Customer Relationship Management*
* Act as the key NPD contact for customer accounts, building strong relationships and delivering tailored product solutions.
* Lead customer presentations and range reviews alongside the Commercial team.
* Ensure all customer requirements, paperwork, and samples are delivered on time and to a high standard.
*Leadership & Team Development*
* Mentor and support NPD Developers, providing guidance and feedback to strengthen team performance.
* Encourage creativity, ownership, and continuous improvement within the NPD team.
* Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, energy, and passion for great product design.
*Cross-Functional Collaboration*
* Work closely with Procurement, Operations, Technical, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Coordinate project plans, resources, and timelines to meet launch deadlines.
* Drive operational excellence within the NPD facility, ensuring organisation and efficiency.
*About You*
You’re an experienced product development professional who combines creativity with strong commercial awareness. You can balance hands-on design leadership with strategic thinking, and you’re motivated by delivering high-quality, innovative products that customers love.
*Essential Skills & Experience*
* Proven experience in product design, development, and launch within FMCG or a related industry.
* Strong project management and leadership skills.
* Excellent understanding of category development, customer expectations, and commercial strategy.
* Confident communicator and presenter, with strong stakeholder management experience.
* Passionate about developing people and driving a high-performance culture.
*Desirable Skills & Experience*
* Familiarity with supply chain and procurement processes.
* Experience applying consumer insights to product innovation.
* Previous responsibility for managing an NPD facility or studio.
