36Job Description:Looking for a unique opportunity to grow and develop your skills? Look no further! We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Assurance Specialist to join our team and provide support for a large portfolio of projects.

As a Senior Environmental Assurance Specialist, you’ll work alongside a collaborative and supportive team from the initial study stage through design to construction completion. This role provides a chance to make a difference and help protect the environment in our local communities.

What will you be doing as a Senior Environmental Assurance Specialist?

  • Effectively communicate the requirements of current applicable environmental legislation and best practices.
  • Work innovatively to identify areas where processes can be improved.
  • Support and assist all project personnel to enable them to manage their environmental duties and responsibilities.
  • Promote continuous improvement of project environmental/sustainability performance.
  • Manage the activities of multiple disciplines following project delivery procedures.
  • Check, review and sign off environmental deliverables produced by consultants and contractors.
  • Represent and promote the Environment department in meetings, workshops, and reviews.
  • Raise environmental/ sustainability awareness throughout Capital Delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections and maintain legal compliance with applicable environmental legislation.
  • Support external liaisons with regulators such as the Environment Agency, local authorities, etc.

36 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Based at Maple Lodge.

This role does require a driver’s licence and access to a car.

What you should bring to the role 

  • Passion for protecting and enhancing the environment.
  • Be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an appropriate environmental/ecological or sustainability discipline or possess equivalent role-specific experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body or demonstrable relevant experience in the environment and sustainability field is desirable.
  • Previous work experience in the Utility industry is desirable but not essential.
  • Understand the regulatory environment we work in to achieve compliance with our environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to clearly interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
