Job Summary by the Career Balance Team:
Whitstable Polar Re-start, a new provision overseen by ISP School Teynham, is seeking a qualified teacher with SEN and Primary training. The centre aims to bridge the gap in education for young people, predominantly with ASD, who are transitioning back to full-time education following a long or short-term absence. The teacher will plan and teach lessons to small groups of pupils, adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs, and liaise with parents and external agencies. The successful candidate will have Qualified Teacher Status, experience in SEN and KS1/KS2, and a holistic approach. ISP is an equal opportunities employer committed to safeguarding.

About Us
Whitstable Polar Re-start is a new provision, although registered in its own right with the DfE, it is an extension of ISP School Teynham and therefore overseen by the Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Team. The centre is designed to bridge the gap in education whilst preparing young people who are predominantly ASD for the transition back to full-time education following a long or short-term absence from school. Young people are supported to transition onto another school placement if appropriate and when they are ready.
We are looking for an inspirational qualified teacher with SEN and Primary training. Role responsibilities
Plan and teach well-structured lessons to small groups of pupils following the school’s plans, curriculum, and schemes of work
- Teach small groups of pupils within and outside the class
- Planning and preparing lessons and resources
- Marking and assessing work
- Liaising with parents, external agencies and a range of professionals
- Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status
- SEN & KS1 & KS2 experience with a focus on nurture – SEMH/ASD
- Successful teaching experience
- Holistic thinker that operates in a therapeutic way
- A passion for creative arts would be desirable
- Excellent skills in managing behaviour

- Ability to form positive and engaging relationships with children or all ages
- Ability to assess and monitor progress and inform target setting
- Skill in de-escalating challenging behaviour
- Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils needs

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by ISP.
