The Road Risk Manager will provide leadership to a small number of employees within the Fleet Services team, whose primary function will be to reduce and mitigate the volume and severity of vehicle and plant-related incidents and injuries.

The Road Risk Manager will develop and implement road risk management strategy, policies, and procedures in line with industry best practices, with a long-term aim of making Thames Water an industry leader in vehicle and plant safety.

The Road Risk Manager will engage directly with key stakeholders around our business to support the delivery and ongoing success of our road risk strategy. They shall provide director-level reporting using leading and lagging indicators, to highlight trends and behaviours which directors can use to drive continuous improvement within their areas of responsibility.

What you’ll be doing as a Road Risk Manager.

You will be working as part of the Fleet & Logistics Management Team – Ensuring alignment with wider Fleet strategy and objectives and utilising the full knowledge base available within the management team. You will also work alongside the Fleet Services Team, HR & HS&W, Suppliers, and other Thames Water colleagues.

  • Reduce and mitigate the volume and severity of vehicle and plant-related incidents and injuries.
  • Develop and implement road risk management strategy, policies, and procedures in line with industry best practices.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Road Risk Coordinators in executing risk reduction initiatives.
  • Stakeholder engagement – Engage with colleagues around the business to ensure policies and procedures are fully embedded and followed.
  • Director-level reporting – Responsible for providing director-level reporting on our road risk initiatives, highlighting trends, successes and where support is needed.

What you should bring to the role

  • Fleet management of large LCV, HGV, and plant fleets.
  • Proven experience in managing road risk or fleet safety programmes, preferably in a large-scale operation.
  • People management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Able to develop and implement strategies within a large organisation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the business.
  • You will require a UK Driving Licence to travel to multiple locations.

  • Offering a salary up to £49,000 per annum depending on experience and skills.
  • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays).
