Rehabilitation Assistant / Support Worker required in the South Essex area.

Fantastic opportunity for an experienced rehabilitation assistant to work with a lady in South East Essex area to maintain her independence at home and in the local community, attend medical appointment days which could be in London or Surrey areas, assist her to complete her therapy program and assist with chosen activities of daily living. 

Nearest Station: TBC

Wage/Salary: £20.00 per hour

Location: At home and in the wider community   

Driver Essential? Yes, as you would be required to drive my client to appointments, vehicle provided. 

Essential: One year plus supporting adults with physical disabilities and amputees desired but not essential. Experience of working within a home environment. Experience of working within rehabilitation or a keen interest in sports, exercise and/or training to be a physiotherapist or medical professional. Non-smoker/Vaper. DBS or happy to obtain one.

Start Date: ASAP

Days & Hours: 15 hours a week, 3 hour shifts Monday -Friday between the hours of 9am-12. This is a position that as trust develops within the working relationship the hours have the potential to increase. There may be days when you are required to accompany my client to a hospital appointment which could mean we will be out all day but this would be arranged with you in advance. Opportunities also to accompany on family holidays and/or work trips. 

Recruiter: Brownbill Associates Ltd is assisting the client to recruit and employ a rehabilitation assistant / support worker to work within the team.

About the client: She is a woman who lives with her husband, two children and dog and has quadrilateral amputations. She requires support with aspects of daily life, completing her therapy program, gardening, weekly shopping, domestic chores, driving to/from medical appointments, accessing outdoor activities. Overall, we require someone who can assist this lady to look into ways that she can be as independent as possible, leaving her with enough energy to do all the fun things a lady of her age would do with her direct family and friends.

Overview of Role: To assist in everyday activities to enable my client to be as independent as possible at home and within the wider community, to complete a daily therapy program and stretches to keep her mobile as possible. To help her access leisure activities as she loves to keep fit, go to the gym, gardening and generally being as active as possible. 

Requires help with: Laundry, carrying washing basket upstairs/downstairs, ironing, changing the beds, folding and hanging up clothes within the home environment and walk a small dog. She also requires assistance with changing light bulbs, help with fastenings; zips, buttons amongst other things.  She requires someone to help her when out and about in the community to carry things for example at a Garden centre as she’s a keen gardener, drive to get weekly food shops, assist when putting weekly food shopping away in the kitchen, meal preparation and provide general assistance to carry heavy items for her when she’s out and about. My client will also require vocational support whilst she is developing her business in the future. 

Who this job would suit: An experienced rehabilitation assistant / support worker who is kind, professional, and is able to provide support in a sensitive way to enable her to maintain her independence. You will be required to be flexible, respect that you are working within a family home, be adaptable in your work ethic, and be empathetic. You must also bring a positive, professional, respectful, calm energy to this role. An interest in physical rehabilitation, sports and/or be training to be a Physiotherapist or medical professional. Full UK driving license required. The family has a small dog who is part of the family so must be good with or around dogs.
