Production Operative – Assembly

Location: Sherburn in Elmet – North Yorkshire

Hours: Monday to Thursday 06.00am-14.30pm and Friday 06.00am-11.30am

As a key member of the team, the Production Operative – Assembly will play a key role in the manufacture of both single deck and double deck buses. You will work in a hand assembly process, ensuring quality and precision in the following tasks:

Responsibilities of the Production Operative – Assembly:

• Assembling parts with the highest quality standards.
• Measuring, marking, cutting, and building components.
• Fitting interior fibreglass components, bonding glass, and securing plastic polymer fittings.
• Installing passenger seats according to engineering layouts.
• Finalising buses by adding mirrors, labels, and ensuring panel alignment.
• Contributing to process improvement.
• Maintaining a safe, organized workspace using 5S principles.
• Identifying and addressing quality issues to maintain high standards.

The ideal Production Operative – Assembly will have:

• Previous experience in at least three areas of the Production Assembly Line (e.g., vehicle glazing, passenger seat fitting, interior ABS capping, coves, and ceiling panel fitting).
• Proficiency with various materials, including aluminum, steel, GRP, plastics, and timber.
• Competence with relevant tools, such as basic hand tools and air-operated tools.
• Understanding of engineering drawings.
• Responsible equipment maintenance.
• Attention to detail.
• Punctuality.
• Familiarity with 5S lean principles.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
