What: Product Development Leader
This senior level will act as the champion for the product, guiding its vision, strategy, and execution. Here’s a breakdown of their key areas of focus. You will lead the technical design (research & development) of assigned products to meet both customer and company goals (quality, technical performance, cost, schedule), communicating regularly with customer(s) from concept through to industrial phase, tracking and monitoring product evolution until SOP.
The Product Development Lead will understand customer requests, negotiate them and communicate them as measurable targets to all stakeholders, define ‘product definition documentation’ and provide technical support to the factory in the pre-production phase, ensuring production performance during mass production phase.
- Technical:
- Product specification analysis & product technical feasibility and customer negotiation
- Product design guidance relating to functional product build.
- Lead functional design and analysis FMEA and process FMEA participation.
- Define product characteristics and process adequacy.
- Support validation plan follow up, proposing solutions where required to meet technical specifications.
- Ensure materials consumption is in line with expectation, applying corrective actions where required to correct deviations.
- Track product evolution until SOP (Team Centre).
- Coordination/Management:
- Monitor and manage project scheduling, communicating with projects where required.
- Lead and define technical targets for the team (procurement has required technical definitions, production knows functional constraints, support project quality with build control planning etc.)
You:
You should be suitably qualified with extensive experience of product development/design within automotive with advanced knowledge of automotive standards, design & validation methods, ‘design to cost’, new product definition, and technical data creation.
Collaborative and customer facing, a high standard of written and verbal communication skills will be vital to be successful. We are particularly keen to speak with product development professionals with specific experience in automotive textiles, acoustic and/or interior trim.
