Job Description
The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.
We are looking for a Platform Engineer (Databases) to work within the Service Delivery team. This role attracts a market supplement of £2500.
The role will specifically focus on ensuring the stability, integrity and efficient operation of our Database systems.
You will have a collaborative approach on working with stakeholders and the ability to work on multiple projects at any one time. This is a highly technical role and you must be able to demonstrate experience in the following:
Extensive Ingres and SQL Server Database Administration Experience
Strong command of SQL / T-SQL language
Knowledge of Unix/Linux/Windows operating systems
Knowledge of Azure SQL and/or Azure Cosmos DB would be desirable.
Broad knowledge of IT Infrastructure and Virtualisation (VMWare)
Database scheduled task automation / scripting in Bash, Powershell or Python
Knowledge of enterprise level IT security concepts and procedures
Excellent technical documentation, coaching and knowledge transfer skills
The creation, maintenance and adoption of relevant IT policies, processes and control frameworks
The use of proactive monitoring tools, diagnostic and root cause analysis techniques
Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 8 (HND or SVQ4) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role.
