111Job Description:As theSRO Operations Liaison Lead, you will work across the Thames Water Strategic Resource Options (SRO) project portfolio which comprises £5 billion to £6 billion of investment over multiple AMPs to improve resilience to drought whilst protecting the environment.
You will support the Thames Water SRO Portfolio team to lead the engagement between our operations teams, system planners and the SRO project delivery teams.
The initial focus will be on the Southeast Strategic Resource Option (SESRO) reservoir and London Water Recycling scheme, as they are developed through the gated process specified by the alliance of regulators (known as RAPID).
As the projects proceed further through the regulatory process, the focus will be on developing the specifications and design principles to support the planning consent and procurement processes.
This role can be based in our offices in South London or the Head Office in Reading. There will be a requirement for regular site visits across the Thames Water area, including Abingdon and London where the main sites are located.
What you’ll be doing as the SRO Construction Assurance Engineer
Working under the direction of the Project Development Managers the role will provide the expertise needed to facilitate the successful and seamless delivery of assets from need validation, design and implementation through to operational takeover and post takeover support where needed.
The main areas of focus include:
Operations Stakeholder Management:
- Work with Thames Water operations and project teams to raise operational awareness throughout the SRO Portfolio team.
- Support the Project Development Managers in meetings, workshops and reviews.
- Set the projects up for success by ensuring clear communication between the project teams and operations for site visits.
- Develop relationships with the project delivery teams to ensure a culture of end-user involvement is embedded across the programme.
- Facilitate operational engagement workshops to ensure that the project delivery teams are developing solutions that meet the needs of the project scope.
- Develop relationships to ensure the project teams are aware of other operational risks and opportunities across each operational area and wider programmes are considered holistically.
Project Development:
- Provide advice and support as may be required relating to technical knowledge and competencies for the SRO Portfolio.
- Be familiar with and effectively communicate the requirements of current applicable operations best practices.
- Think innovatively and work to identify areas where processes can be improved.
- Support key design reviews as requested by the Project Development Managers.
- Support the Project Development Managers to ensure project objectives meet the requirements of the End User, taking into account the required business outcomes and available budget.
What you should bring to the role
- Operational understanding and experience, ideally across Thames Water.
- Ideally have a technical or operational background in an engineering, utilities or construction industry.
- Strong communication and influencing skills and evidence of stakeholder management.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a matrix delivery environment.
- Proactive approach and ability to adapt to changing scenarios to solve problems.
- Ability to identify project requirements identify gaps in project scope and appropriately raise them.
- Full UK driver’s licence.
