About Our Opportunity
We’re on the lookout for a driven and forward-thinking Operations Coordinator to support our Regional Director – South, across EMR’s UK Trading operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a broad and hands-on grounding in our business — from strategy and systems to yard operations and event coordination.
This varied and dynamic role will see you working across our Southern UK sites and beyond, so regular travel across Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Greater London, Kent and The Midlands form part of the position. You’ll get exposure to stakeholders at every level and have the chance to make a real impact by supporting day-to-day activity, driving process improvement, and playing a key part in delivering projects and events.
It’s a great fit for an individual with a business, engineering, or operations background who wants to grow their career in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
What You Will Be Doing
Supporting the Regional Director – South in the coordination of yard operations, site services, and links with transport, commercial, and functions
Managing standardised reporting and coordination tasks using IT systems across the South UK Trading sites
Progressing operational projects by working collaboratively with key business stakeholders
Planning and delivering events across Southern Operations – from scheduling to logistics and execution
Representing the South Region at meetings and events – including preparing briefing documents and arranging travel
Drafting and reviewing internal communications on behalf of the South Region Director
Conducting research and benchmarking exercises to support continuous improvement
Keeping the Regional Director up to date on time-sensitive matters and priority issues
Acting as a point of contact between stakeholders – from site-level colleagues to members of the senior leadership team
About You
We’re looking for someone with natural curiosity, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving operational environment. You’ll be comfortable juggling tasks, prioritising with confidence, and building strong relationships at all levels of the business.
You’ll also bring:
A degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related subject
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure
High levels of IT literacy and an analytical mindset – confident in producing reports and working with systems
A willingness to travel weekly, including regular overnight stays
A full UK driving licence
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – and the confidence to represent the business at events
A self-starter attitude with a commitment to doing things the right way
An interest in metal recycling and circular economy is a bonus – but not essential
