112Job Description:Close to the tube and other transport links, this friendly community day nursery in East London is seeking a Nursery Deputy Manager to join their team.

Work with children from 0 to 5 years old, they have achieved an “outstanding” rating and can offer the children a range of exciting activities to dive into, including cooking with the in-house Chef, gardening, construction, play with sand and water designed to bring out the potential in every child. No day is the same and the children enjoy lots of diversity from an innovative curriculum.

You will support the Nursery Manager in the smooth running of the nursery. This will involve helping support the team, as well as assisting with nursery finances, staffing rota, health and safety, partnering with parents, and ensuring the quality of the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • The Nursery Deputy Manager ensures the children are happy, safe and that their individual needs are met
  • Provide guidance and support to nursery staff, oversee staff schedules, ensuring suitable coverage across the setting
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of age-appropriate curriculum and educational programs, and ensure that educational and developmental goals are met for each child
  • Encourage staff development and provide opportunities for training and professional growth
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursery policies and procedure
  • Stand in for the Manager when they are away

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification
  • Experience of leading a team in a nursery setting
  • Effective communication skills to interact with children, parents, and staff, as well as the ability to convey information clearly and empathetically
  • A solid understanding of child development, early childhood education principles, and best practices for teaching and caring for young children
  • Proficiency in nursery administration, including record-keeping, budget management, and policy development
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide nursery staff, set expectations, and maintain a positive working environment
  • Effective time management skills to balance various responsibilities and tasks within a busy nursery environment
