36Job Description:We are looking for an experienced Nursery Chef to join a wonderful nursery with great transport links near Brixton, that’s rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, to lead the kitchen team and produce tasty and nutritious meals and snacks for the children.

You’ll help prepare nutritious meals for children and feel real job satisfaction from promoting healthy eating habits for life. As well as cooking up a storm in the kitchen you will share you love of food with the children and help to support food-related activities run by nursery team.

You’ll get to take ownership of the kitchen and suppliers, ensuring a clean and healthy environment and keeping children with allergies safe. You will receive excellent in-house training and work sociable hours Monday to Friday in a friendly environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare high quality, fresh and well-balanced meals and snacks throughout the day. Develop seasonal menus, responding to the preferences of the children
• Support children to develop an understanding of healthy eating habits and regularly lead cooking activities.
• Create cooking activities for the children, promote food education and help them explore different foods and fruits and to expand their palates
• Support cooking and baking activities with the children. Help to encourage learning about healthy ingredients and help make food fun, while also developing children’s counting, weighing and motor skills
• The Nursery Chef will supervise food preparation and ensure that any allergies are understood and catered for

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience of producing healthy, nutritious meals for children
• Experience of catering for large numbers in a nursery setting
• A positive attitude and enthusiastic to work with children
• Food Hygiene Level 2 or equivalent
