A leading global manufacturer in Birmingham is seeking a Metallurgist to ensure the quality and integrity of their products. The Metallurgist will conduct research, analysis, and testing of metal structures in a state-of-the-art facility. Responsibilities include working closely with lab environments, being a technical lead, setting up process routes, liaising with different areas of the business, overseeing non-conformances, and improving metallurgical processes. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, a strong metallurgical background, experience in process improvement, and good communication skills. The salary for the role is £55,000, with additional benefits.

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a leading global manufacturer with over 70 years of experience in the aerospace, medical and industrial sectors. As a Metallurgist you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of the products. While working in a state-of-the-art facility you will be responsible for conducting research, analysis and testing of metal structures.
 
Responsibilities:
 

  • You will work closely with Lab environment and will be equally comfortable overseeing desk-based activity as you would be working and being a presence on the shopfloor.
  • Technical lead on all product manufactured at the specific site.
  • Accountable for the set-up of process routes to ensure the product conforms to all customer requirements. Monitoring and improvement activities around these routings essential.
  • Liaise and communicate across a number of areas of the business including Operations, Manufacturing, Technical Teams, Lab environments (internally) as well as working with customers externally.
  • You will work closely with Quality to oversee any non-conformances or any issues that will be metallurgical in nature.
  • Influence and improve Metallurgical processes.

 
Person specification:
 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment (ideally forging; not but essential)
  • Strong Metallurgical background (ideally a degree-based qualification)
  • Experienced in Process Improvement and engagement with a shopfloor.
  • Thorough understanding of external and internal customer quality standards.
  • Good communicator across the board internally and externally.

 
Package:
 

  • Salary – £55,000
  • 26 days + Bank hols

  • Quarterly cash bonus – non contractual (Based on company performance)
