Support Worker
Location: Weston Super Mare
Hourly Rate: £15

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team, providing assistance to an adult male with a unique set of challenges, including bipolar disorder, psychosis, autism, and ADHD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Management:
- Facilitate the establishment and maintenance of a calm and settled routine for the individual.
- Provide support in daily activities to ensure stability and predictability.
- Assist with day-to-day tasks, including cleaning and organising the individuals living space.
- Community Access and Engagement:
- Assist in enabling the individual to access the community and participate in various activities.
- Foster independence by giving choices and encouraging decision-making.
- Socialization and Support System Expansion:
- Actively work to enable socialization, helping the individual expand their support system.
- Encourage and facilitate meaningful connections within the community.
- Sensory Awareness:
- Remain attentive to sensory issues and triggers that may impact the individual’s well-being.
- Implement strategies to create a sensory-friendly environment.
- De-escalation Techniques:
- Possess and apply effective de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours.
- Maintain a calm and composed demeanour during crisis situations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a similar support role, particularly with individuals facing complex mental health and developmental challenges is desirable.
- Understanding of bipolar disorder, psychosis, autism, ADHD, and associated needs.
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and ability to handle challenging behaviours.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to empower and encourage independence.
- Sensitivity to sensory issues and a proactive approach to creating a supportive environment.

The refer a friend scheme is worth £200 in total. This is split £100 after the person has worked 100 hours and then another £100 when they have passed probation (6 months usually).
