Thames Water is hiring an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team in a varied and integral role. The responsibilities of the role include general accounting functions, communication and promotion of financial position, insight, governance, and control within the business. The ideal candidate should have the ability to prioritize multiple projects, excellent interpersonal skills, and clear communication and presentation skills. They should also have a good knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles. The role is a hybrid role that requires coming to the office in Swindon twice a week. The salary is up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience.

Job Description:Are you ready for a new challenge and keen to expand your knowledge within a talented and dedicated finance team? We are seeking to recruit an experienced Management Accountant to take on a varied and integral role.

What you’ll be doing as a Management Accountant?
You will be responsible for performing general accounting functions in addition to the communication and promotion of financial position, insight, governance and control within the business. This includes:

  • General ledger and revenue/cost accounting activities including journal calculation and processing, GL account reconciliation and overall ownership and support of the period end close.
  • Ensuring the accurate capturing and reporting of financial and performance activities of the business.
  • Supporting the partnering and maintenance of good relationships with key external stakeholders, including production and distribution of information as required.
  • Provide Insight into results during period-end close to the FP&A and Business Partner teams, relating to the key cost and revenue drivers. 
  • Working across the wider finance team to document, align and improve processes, to drive efficiency and consistency.
  • Production and preparation of audited financial information and technical accounting papers in accordance with accounting standards and support on year-end audit.
  • Production and preparation to support the regulatory accounting returns, including monitoring of external reporting requirements and researching accounting issues.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for analytics, through the agreed demand management framework to provide support to Business Partners for costs/revenue visibility, business case preparation and investigation into financial performance.

 
 What you should bring to the role?

  • Ability to effectively prioritise multiple projects to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with leadership, key stakeholders, and employees.
  • A good team player but also takes ownership to complete tasks independently.
  • Clear communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial statements.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of accounting principles, systems, and procedures.
  • Part Qualified Accountant and ideally working towards ACA, CIMA, CPA, CMA, CHAE or equivalent.
  • Systems experience with HFM.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of IFRS.

This is a hybrid role with the requirement to come to the office in Swindon twice a week.
