Logistics Engineer – Tier 1 Automotive – West Midlands

The Role

SF Recruitment are working with a leading 1st tier automotive business in the West midlands to recruit a logistics engineer.

This is a newly created, hands-on role designed to drive process improvements, streamline material flow & ensure the smooth implementation of engineering changes.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and process all Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to ensure updates are implemented accurately and efficiently. Setting up new supply lines where needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, and Procurement to ensure seamless part introduction and change implementation.
Analyse current logistics and material flow processes to identify and implement cost-effective improvements and process optimisations.
Develop and maintain documentation for logistics engineering processes and procedures.
Support new product introduction by ensuring logistics readiness and alignment across both manufacturing areas.
Monitor and resolve part shortages, delivery issues, or flow disruptions affecting production schedules.
Provide technical support for layout planning, material handling methods, and space utilisation within manufacturing areas.
Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Kaizen, Lean projects) focused on inventory optimisation, reduced lead times, and cost savings.
Key Requirements

Proven experience in a logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing engineering role, ideally within the automotive or a high-volume production environment.
Strong understanding of Engineering Change Management, material flow, and ERP/MRP systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively at all levels.
Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities across large, fast-paced operations.
Proficient in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of   WMS/ERP systems is a strong advantage
