Scottish Veterans Residences (SVR) is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for its Whitefoord House in Edinburgh. Established in 1910, SVR provides supported accommodation for homeless veterans. The role offers a salary of £24,570 per annum for full-time hours, working three days on and three days off, with shifts from 7:30 am to 6 pm. Responsibilities include serving meals, cleaning dishes and kitchen areas, and maintaining health and safety standards. The Kitchen Assistant will work closely with the Chef and another assistant, promote the organisation's good reputation, and attend necessary training sessions as required.

We provide high-quality, supported accommodation for veterans who are homeless or in need.We are looking for a candidate to join our team, a salary of £24,570 paWorking Full time 37.5 hours, 3 days on, 3 days off. Shifts are 7.30 am 6 pm (overtime shifts can become available)Working as part of a small team, including the Chef and another kitchen assistant, serving our residents Breakfast, Lunch and Evening Meals.An example of your duties will include;

  • Setting out and serving of food/drinks.
  • Wash up after meals and ensure all crockery and equipment are clean and stored appropriately
  • The kitchen/dining area’s overall cleaning is carried out effectively per the daily/weekly cleaning schedule, ensuring the maintenance of statutory Health and Safety standards.
  • Report any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment, or potential hazards to the duty chef or catering manager.
  • Ensure that the kitchen/dining room is clean and tidy and that all waste is disposed of in accordance with Whitefoord House’s waste disposal policy.
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
  • Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off-site, as and when required.
  • Promote and ensure the good reputation of the organisation.
  • Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
