*The salary is broken down as £54,460 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £66,356. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.*

There is no greater mission than keeping the public safe – our people are the way we achieve this. This communications role is integral to the success of the Metropolitan Police Service. Our police officers and staff depend on excellent communication and engagement.
This role sits in a newly created team that will allow us to significantly improve the way we engage with both our internal and external audiences. It will focus on leading a team that will communicate changes to our 40k strong workforce, as well as be responsible for devising and driving staff engagement and internal campaigns. You will be expected to work flexibly and give advice and support across both our external and internal audiences, but with a strong focus on advocating for and engaging with our workforce.
You will have the opportunity to get involved in work that spans a wide range of subjects, and will get to know all aspects of what it takes to police our capital city. Curiosity about people, communities and a passion for engagement are a must.
This role will be instrumental in helping the organisation deliver the Commissioner’s New Met for London plan, through campaigns that engage our people so that they understand the direction of the Met and the part they play in getting there. These roles will improve our reach and our effectiveness, and help increase transparency and trust amongst both our colleagues and the public.
The role requires an experienced and innovative communication leader, ideally with experience in both corporate communication and campaigning, who has a track record of operating in and engaging a large and complex organisation.
You will be expert in using data and insight, industry best practice and be at the forefront of pushing the frontier of campaign and internal communication opportunities.
The role holder is responsible for working with senior colleagues in the communication and engagement team to understand key corporate issues. The role holder will also plan, coordinate, and deliver campaigns and broader internal communications that reach the right people, at the right time, with the right message.
Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing and Internal Communication, you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including HR, finance, strategy, transformation, and operational colleagues and your counterparts in press, internal, digital, external affairs, campaigns to maximise communication effectiveness.
The Met’s communication team is undergoing a significant restructure and you will be part of managing this change, supporting colleagues to deliver.
*Additional Information*
You may be expected to work at other Met buildings across London as required.
You may very occasionally be required to work some weekends and other out of hours cover with appropriate notice for which time off in lieu or overtime will be available. You will be part of an on-call rota.
