Join Quarriers at Countryview , our specialist short breaks (respite) service for children and young people aged 5–20 with a wide range of complex support needs.

What We Do at Countryview We provide short breaks to children and young people who may have: Complex medical conditions Physical and learning disabilities Autism and neurodiverse needs Trauma and attachment-based needs Distressed and emotionally driven behaviour But our service is about more than just support — it’s about play, connection, and opportunity.
Your Role As an Intensive Support Practitioner, you will: Create a warm, safe, and fun environment where children feel respected, understood, and valued Support with personal care, medical procedures, and therapeutic routines (full training provided) Build trusting relationships and respond to children with compassion, especially during times of distress Support children in play-based activities, outings, sensory sessions, and skill-building opportunities Work closely with families and schools to ensure consistency in routines and communication Be a reliable support to families, giving them peace of mind and a well-deserved break Support Tasks Include: Personal care and emotional support Mealtimes and routines Sensory and play-based activities Trips, outings, and community engagement Working Pattern 2 x 37.5 hours per week 1 x 15 hours per week Shifts of 7.5 hours (early and late) Includes evenings and weekends on a rolling rota What You’ll Bring SVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or an HNC in Social Services (you must hold one and be willing to work towards the other) A full UK driving licence is highly desirable Experience working with children and families in a care setting A creative and playful approach Reliability, flexibility, and strong relationship-building skills Confidence in supporting children with a wide range of needs We also welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who show strong potential and a passion for care.
