Thames Water is seeking a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to help deliver their Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Strategy. The role involves ensuring compliance with the company’s management system, providing technical skills and support to ensure safe operations, conducting audits and inspections, reviewing safe systems of work and risk assessments, delivering training, leading incident investigations, and liaising with enforcing authorities and industry groups. The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 3 days a week supporting teams in the field, and offers a competitive salary, car allowance, pension, and other benefits. A passion for health, safety, and wellbeing, as well as relevant qualifications and technical knowledge, are desired.
Job Description:In this role, you will be helping to deliver our Safety, Health, and Wellbeing Strategy, and ensuring compliance with the Thames Water management system, standards, processes, and procedures. You will provide technical skills and support both on-site and remotely to ensure the safe running of our operations.
This role is hybrid which requires a minimum of 3 days a week out supporting teams in your geographic area of responsibility who are working in the public highway, with some early morning starts to meet the operations teams before they leave their depots for the day. The remaining 2 days will be attending meetings both in person and on teams, completing investigation and inspection reports, and other administrative tasks
What you’ll be doing as a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor
- Undertake audits/inspections.
- Assist in the review and agreement process of safe systems of work and risk assessments where there is a significant risk to safety and the environment.
- Provide support and advice to stakeholders (which will include wholesale, support service staff, and contractors) on Safety, Health, and Well-being matters including compliance with applicable legislation and industry best practices.
- Deliver training in line with the annual training plan.
- Lead incident investigations.
- Liaise with enforcing authorities and professional/industry groups.
The base location for the role is Epsom
Working hours: 36 hours per week
What you should bring to the role:
- A passion for Health, Safety, and Wellbeing leading by example.
- NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ level 3.
- Full UK Driving license.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal and the ability to communicate with senior business leaders.
- Be self-motivated and able to work as a part of a team.
- Technical knowledge of a related industry (utilities, water or construction) whilst not essential would be an advantage.
