Head of Finance

Job Summary by the Career Balance Team:

A market-leading innovator and manufacturer is seeking a dynamic Head of Finance for their UK operations. The role involves leading and developing the finance team, managing financial reporting and controlling, and working closely with the site director and international group. The successful candidate will have strong financial aptitude, be a qualified accountant, and have experience leading the finance function for a medium to large manufacturing or engineering business. Job Description:Head of Finance – Grimsby – c£85,000

Chase & Holland are working exclusively with a well-established, market leading innovator and manufacturer, who are looking to recruit a dynamic, credible UK Head of Finance, reporting into their international group. This number one finance role for the UK will be an active player in the site leadership team and lead the UK finance function. You will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, controlling and reporting for the UK entities. You will manage the interface with their international group and work closely with the Site Director.

Head of Finance responsibilities: 
 

• Leads and develops the UK Finance team.
• Review the monthly management accounts and corporate reporting information, writing the narrative and pro-actively challenges  variances and discrepancies
• Present the numbers and headlines of the financial position to senior management and Global Finance on a monthly basis
• Verifies budgets and forecasts including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash flow
• Develops reporting tools to provide reliable, timely and accurate financial information to the relevant department heads
• Attends Group meetings to provide financial information to stakeholders
• Manages the financial and reporting systems of the business and their development
• Ensures that appropriate accounting policies, procedures and mandates are in place and are being adhered to
• Liaises with external stakeholders on UK financial matters, including Insurance, Banks etc
• Works closely with the UK Site Director and the leadership team on operational matters to improve the financial performance of the business
• Acts as Company Secretary and prepares and signs off UK tax returns and statutory accounts
• Ensures that ongoing knowledge of legal requirements on the UK legal entity is kept and up to date and that business policies and procedures are implemented/updated accordingly to ensure ongoing compliance
• Manages the preparation and submission of ad-hoc financial, operational and commercial exercises / information / reports

 
Required Skills & Experience: 

• Qualified Accountant, either CIMA, ACCA or ACA with an impeccable track record up to this point
• Friendly, energetic, professional, well rounded individual with strong financial aptitude, excellent IT and planning skills
• Up to date IFRS knowledge
• Strong background leading the finance function for a medium to large manufacturing or engineering business
• Ability to play a key role in strategic growth projects
