93Job Description:Group Health & Safety Manager
Location: Gillingham, Kent
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000
We are seeking a Group Health & Safety Manager for our client who is based in Gillingham, Kent. This pivotal role requires someone with a solid background in Health and Safety who is eager to advance their career. The successful candidate will oversee Health and Safety matters not only for the business but also for the affiliated companies situated in Slough, Bristol, Sidcup, West Yorkshire, and Darwen.
Key Responsibilities for the role of Group Health & Safety Manager include:
- Contribute to all facets of Health & Safety including fire safety, security, access control, and compliance across various sites.
- Act as a central quality resource for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Foster a positive Health and Safety culture by implementing and championing group initiatives aimed at accident prevention and ensuring employee well-being.
- Conduct routine proactive safety inspections at group offices and external locations as necessary.
- Support the Management Team in accident/incident reporting, near misses, and non-conformances, ensuring the implementation of effective preventive measures.
- Review and update existing risk assessments and procedures.
- Assist in regulatory audits and relevant external accreditations, ensuring accurate and accessible information is provided.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures related to regulatory obligations, offering guidance to colleagues as needed.
- Address Health & Safety-related concerns, complaints, or requirements internally and externally.
- Ensure proper issuance and use of equipment and PPE to minimize risk.
- Identify and deliver Health & Safety training solutions for the Group, including Toolbox Talks and regular communications.
- Maintain training records in compliance with industry standards.
- Chair quarterly H&S Committee meetings.
Key Requirements for the role of Group Health & Safety Manager include:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.

- Demonstrated tact and diplomacy.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality.
- Willingness to travel across the UK.
- Effective planning, prioritization, and organization skills.
- Relevant professional qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Comprehensive understanding of legal regulations pertaining to Health & Safety, Quality, and Environment.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably including CDM knowledge.
