FINANCE ASSISTANT
Based in the NEU Hamilton House (London, WC1H 9BD)
Permanent, part-time (3 days per week)

The National Education Union is a force for change in the world of education, bringing together more than 450,000 teachers, lecturers, support staff and leaders working in maintained and independent schools and colleges across the UK.
The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of the union’s aims supporting the local finance function. The tasks are divided across the team at the discretion of the Local Finance Manager and include processing and validating payments to members and districts/branches, recording the financial returns and Unity bank account administration and providing support and guidance to colleagues and members on submissions of honoraria, sustentation, and other matters under the local finance regulations.
We are seeking applicants with the ability to work under pressure and deliver to critical deadlines. Candidates must have good IT skills, be intermediate users of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and have relevant computerised financial systems experience e.g. Sun Accounting.
They will demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial and accounting practices and procedures necessary for performance of the role; experience of completing financial reconciliation processes; excellent attention to accuracy and detail; good communication skills, including active listening skills, and the ability to relate to a range of people.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditions including 33 days annual leave plus Christmas closure days and a generous salary pension scheme. Salary and benefits will be offered pro-rata for part-time hours.
