About Me:

I am an older lady that lives with Learning disability and Mental health support needs, I am looking for Female only support workers to support me in my new home and in the community.

I enjoy spending time out in the community, one of my favorite things to do is to go shopping in charity shops, visit the penny arcades and have lunch out. One day, I would like to have my own pet.

When we are at home, I need to feel safe. I need you to be consistent in your support and assist me with my independence. I need you to give me time and space when I need it and listen to me when I need reassurance or am struggling with my feelings.

I will need people to support me all day in my home and the community with developing community awareness, independent living skills, staying safe, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing anxiety and challenges specific to me.

 

Shift Patterns

This is a 24-hour service; therefore, flexibility is essential. You will be working a range of shifts including nights and some weekends. There is always the option to discuss flexible shifts such as nights only, weekends only and part time hours.

Average potential earnings are £30,779 based on 37 hours.

*Potential average earnings are a culmination of colleagues working additional shifts and where applicable sleep ins**

** sleep ins are not required in all services

***not all colleagues will work overtime and therefore potential earnings will differ

 

Role Responsibility

About the role

  • I need my support workers to be patient, understanding and confident in their approach.
  • My support workers need to be caring and supportive when I am struggling with my mental health.
  • Supporting me in challenging situations.
  • You will be required to work alongside specialists in multi-disciplinary teams. This may include Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and more.

The Ideal Candidate

You should be

  • Experienced in supporting people with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health diagnosis.
  • Be resilient, patient and understanding. It will take a while to be able to develop a strong bond with me.
  • Fun, caring and committed to supporting me in the ways I need support.

You should have:

  • Confidence with the right attitude!
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and independently, and with other professionals involved in my support.
  • You should have a non-judgmental approach.

Desirable:

  • Having a mature and confident approach to challenging situations. A person with great life experience and Mental Health trained would be preferred.

This is a specialist supported living service in Sandwich and we have high expectations for our staff. You will receive all the necessary training prior to supporting the person and this will take place locally.
