As an Environmental Assurance Specialist, you’ll work alongside a collaborative and supportive team from the initial study stage through design to construction completion. This role provides a chance to make a difference and help protect the environment in our local communities.

What you’ll be doing as an Environmental Assurance Specialist

  • Provide environmental technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage environmental de-risking of Capital Delivery projects and ensure appropriate mitigation is followed.
  • Effectively communicate the requirements of current applicable environmental legislation and best practices.
  • Provide support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to manage their environmental duties and responsibilities.
  • Manage the activities of multiple environmental disciplines.
  • Check, review and approve environmental deliverables produced by consultants and contractors.
  • Represent and promote the Environment Team in meetings, workshops, and reviews.
  • Carry out site inspections and ensure legal compliance with applicable environmental legislation.
  • Support external liaisons with regulators such as the Environment Agency, local authorities, etc.
  • Produce, procure and approve the relevant environmental deliverables—typically regulatory, sustainability and biodiversity requirements.
  • Ensure legal and contractual environmental requirements are discharged.

Based in Clearwater Court, Hybrid, you will be required on-site as part of your role requires you to.

36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

This role does require a driver’s licence and access to a car.

What you should bring to the role

  • Passion for protecting and enhancing the environment.
  • Be educated to a degree level in an appropriate environmental/ecological or sustainability discipline and possess relevant experience.
  • Understand the UK regulatory environment in which we work to achieve compliance with our environmental requirements.
  • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Competitive salary from £40,000 to £46,000 per annum.
