Job Summary by the Career Balance Team:
An electrical design engineer is required for a company based in Macclesfield, with the option to work from Manchester or remotely for one day a week. The role involves designing low voltage power distribution, lighting, cable calculations, and fire alarm systems, among other duties. The engineer will work closely with the lead electrical designer and other team members, and will be responsible for producing design drawings and proposals. The successful candidate should have an engineering qualification and be trained in the BS7671 18th Edition Amendment 2.
Job Description:
Electrical Design Engineer Required
Paying £45k – £55k per annum, PLUS £330 per month car allowance
Monday to Friday, 36.5hrs per week.
Based at Macclesfield four days a week with the option of working from Manchester or hybrid for the fifth day.
Project: Multiple Projects. AZ Compressed Air tenders, and future works.
Your electrical services design duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Low Voltage power distribution design for building services.
Circuit protection with correct disconnection times in LV final distribution.
Lighting design with reflected ceiling plans, suitable uniformity, and coordination with HVAC
Lighting Controls.
Cable Calculations.
Containment sizing including consideration of de-rating.
Structured cabling with segregation.
Fire alarm design with BS5839 signoff.
Emergency Lighting design with BS5266 signoff.
Drawing markups, sketches, schematics to brief the CAD & 3D modelling department.
Schedule and BoM production.
Purpose
Our client specialises in design and construction of sophisticated environmental facilities; providing a complete turnkey package to the high technology industries, particularly Pharmaceuticals, Fine Chemicals, Biotechnology, Food, Electronics and Nuclear industries. Our clients operate in highly regulated industries and therefore the service we offer must be delivered in compliance with relevant standards at all times.
This role will provide design activities to various clean rooms, production & research facilities, and general buildings.
The electrical designer will work closely with and under the guidance of the lead electrical designer and will be responsible for providing technical and detailed design based upon conceptual documents as well as verbal briefs, load analysis. design development and tender documents.
The role will interface with the estimating disciplines as well as the other members of the design team, subcontractors, and client representatives. The electrical designer will assist with producing electrical design drawings, calculations, schedules, and proposals for the design department.
Aims and Objectives:
To brief the estimating team on pricing requirements and provide sufficient design information to allow accurate and efficient cost plans to be developed.
Be able to manage a tender return ensuring all bid documentation is completed correctly and returned on time.
You could receive initial concept reports and briefs, or you could be interpreting a written URS / EIR for the works and develop it into a detailed and coordinated work package.
There will be governance and employers’ requirements which will differ between the various markets and customers that you will need to understand and apply in your designs.
To work with the operations team to assist with programming and reporting, construction queries and technical assistance.
Requirements:
Engineering qualification to HNC level as a minimum.
Trained in the BS7671 18th Edition Amendment 2.
