We’re seeking two Design Managers to join our Bridge Design team within the Transportation division, based in Birmingham, London, or Basingstoke. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers and technicians to deliver highway structures design packages that meet the client’s brief, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Location: Birmingham, London or Basingstoke – remote working available, with travelling to the office and sites as required.

Contract: Permanent, Fulltime

Salary: £52.5k to £60k + private healthcare + car + benefits

 

Responsibilities

As a Design Manager, you’ll manage a team delivering design packages to the meet the client’s brief for highways bridges and other structures for variety of projects (new construction/ maintenance/ renewals) for key Clients including National Highways Major Projects and Operations, Transport for London, Local Authorities (Northampton and Birmingham) and South Wales Trunk Road Agency.

Your day to day will include:

• Acting as Lead Designer and managing the delivery of technical outputs on work undertaken by the team and ensuring high quality of work produced
• Carrying out, checking and certifying of design deliverables (including drawings specifications, professional skill and care certificates, reports and contract documents), and authorising where appropriate
• Acting as Line Manager for small team
• Supporting development of team members in route for professional qualifications
• Supporting the Senior Design Managers and Head of Structures in liaison with Clients, delivery of portfolio of projects and utilisation targets for the team

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Design Manager is great for you if you have:

• A degree or equivalent in a Civil/Structural Engineering and Chartered/Incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (MICE/MIStructE).
• Demonstrable experience of leading a team and managing project delivery
• Demonstrable broad in-depth experience in inspection, assessment, design and construction of highway structures to DMRB and Eurocodes.
• Experience of using design/analysis software (e.g. LUSAS, Midas, Autodesk Bridge Design).
