Join Our Electrifying Journey at BP Pulse!

Are you ready to be part of something truly exciting? BP Pulse is the UK’s fastest-growing EV charging network, and we need passionate, skilled EV experts like you to help us shape an electric future and achieve NetZero. Our goal is to meet the global demand for safe, sustainable, and affordable energy by delivering the fastest and most convenient network of 100,000 EV charging points worldwide by 2030. Join us on this incredible adventure and help us electrify the world!

As part of the BP Pulse Platform Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in building a world-class software engineering team, fostering a dynamic and innovative environment and culture. You will collaborate closely with the Technical Lead and other key stakeholders to lead, empower, and develop the capabilities of our engineering teams. Your leadership will be vital in overcoming unique challenges, driving high-quality work, and making a significant impact.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the scope, risks, and mitigation strategies throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Partner with team collaborators to create and update the delivery roadmap and project plans.
  • Communicate the purpose and value of the work to the team.
  • Collaborate with Tech SMEs to collect and improve technical delivery metrics.
  • Support initiatives for frequent smaller releases, creating release plans and coordinating launch activities.

Leading progress towards milestones, you will ensure awareness among all stakeholders, champion transparent playback of completed work, and gather feedback from partners. By planning ahead, you will identify work, capacity, and dependencies, negotiating timelines and scope. Maintaining an up-to-date backlog, you will support team and wider reporting and visibility, define work-in-progress limits, optimize flow, and manage work intake with team members and product.

Your role will involve ensuring adherence to definitions of ready and done by the team and external customers. You will work with tech leads, QAs, and BAs on managing production support workload and planning support schedules. Identifying and addressing bottlenecks in the delivery process, you will facilitate process improvement discussions, manage and mitigate risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions, escalating as needed. Capturing and sharing innovations, lessons learned, and successes with other teams, you will promote a culture of one-on-one feedback and positive team dynamics, educating team members on agile ways of working.

Collaboration is key to this role. You will work closely with the Technical Lead to lead and develop your engineering teams, coordinate with Delivery Managers, Tech Leads, Architects, and Security to deliver high-quality software, and work with tech leads, QAs, and BAs on production support and software operations.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Proven experience leading delivery teams within large programmes building bespoke enterprise platforms and applications.
  • Experience in running IT projects with multiple partner involvement.
  • Comfort working with business and technical executives, and product managers.
  • A strong understanding of agile and kanban development methods.
  • Expertise in creating delivery roadmaps and planning.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams across the whole SDLC.

At BP, we offer an excellent working environment and comprehensive employee benefits, including:

  • An open and inclusive culture.
  • Great work-life balance.
  • Tremendous learning and development opportunities.
  • Life and health insurance, medical care packages, and more.
  • Flexible working options and modern collaboration spaces.

We support our people to learn and grow in a diverse and exciting environment, believing our team is strengthened by diversity. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone is respected and treated fairly.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Prominent experience with Kubernetes (k8s) and AWS is essential.
  • Advantageous to have diverse coding experience beyond Python.
  • Experience with Istio or other service mesh, global cloud scalability models, and infrastructure as a service is a plus.
  • A focus on DevEx and digital security is highly valued.
