*Are you looking for a role where data governance meets innovation?*
*Do you have the skills to turn complex data into meaningful change?*
*Do you want to make a lasting impact with your data and analytics expertise?*
StepChange is entering an exciting new phase of digital transformation, and we’re looking for a talented Data Analyst to play a key role in that journey. You’ll work across the digital team and wider organisation to uncover, define, and translate data requirements—bringing clarity to complex problems and helping shape data models that drive real impact.
As we kick off an ambitious new 5-year strategy with data at its core, this is a unique opportunity to lead the way in embedding modern data concepts, driving innovation, and helping us become a truly data-led organisation.
*What you will be doing*
In this role, you’ll be mapping out how data flows across the organisation—from where it’s captured to how it’s transferred and transformed across different domains. You’ll take the lead on building and maintaining our data catalogue and data dictionary, helping support the Data Protection Officer and strengthening how we manage data overall. You’ll work closely with architects in agile feature teams to support data movement, migration, and integration needs, and you’ll create key documentation (like IFDDs) to keep our data flows auditable and transparent.
You’ll also get stuck into building data quality pipelines and toolchains, working with data stewards and owners to tackle any issues before they become problems. Whether it’s cleaning and managing data for insight or contributing to governance forums like the Owners Committee and Stewards Forum, you’ll help make sure good data practice is embedded across the charity. You’ll also support the wider data architecture by helping to shape our governance processes, policies, and standards—keeping data reliable, accessible, and impactful.
*About you*
You’ve got a solid grounding in relational databases, SQL, and data integration, and you’re confident designing data models using techniques like UML and entity relationships. You’re familiar with cloud-native technologies (ideally AWS), and understand how data moves in complex, hybrid environments.
You’re hands-on, curious, and always looking for better ways to work with data. You know your way around Python and open-source tools, and you’re comfortable with formats like JSON and XML. You enjoy collaborating in agile teams, translating technical detail into clear, useful outputs, and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed. Most of all, you’re excited by the opportunity to help shape a truly data-led future.
