An international market-leading business based in Chesterfield is seeking to hire a Customs Agent. The role involves providing customs clearance, HS code support, and trade coordination activities across the EMEA region. The Customs Agent will also support regulatory and compliance functions, handle documentation administration, and maintain awareness of customs processes and duties. The position offers 20 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, opportunities for progression, flexible hybrid working (including remote work), a pension scheme, and free onsite parking. Key requirements include experience and knowledge of customs clearance and cross-border transactions, as well as strong communication and IT skills.

Job Description:Customs Agent – Chesterfield – £30,000 – £32,000 – Hybrid Working
Chase & Holland are proud to be working with an International market leading business based in Chesterfield who are recruiting a Customs Agent to join their team.

As Customs Agent, you will be responsible for providing customs clearance, HS code support, and trade coordination activities across the EMEA region. As part of the Transportation team, you will also be responsible for supporting the regulatory and compliance functions, documentation administration and maintaining business awareness of all issues relating to customs process and duty.

Customs Agent Responsibilities:

• Provide inbound clearance for shipments into the region, primarily in the UK
• Work closely with appointed external clearance partners, to maintain good relationships and working practices
• Provide and maintain good knowledge and guidance on import and export duty, rates and taxes. Initially within the UK and EU, but potentially expanding to the rest of the region
• Manage TSS relationship for Northern Ireland shipments
• Work with the EMEA Tax team to ensure all transactions are compliant with the rules of the governing country in the region
• Provide and maintain good knowledge and guidance on preferential rates for products, across the EMEA region
• Complete assessment and checks on HS code request as required, for products across the EMEA region
• Own and update customs section of EMEA Sharepoint site

Hours of work – 8am – 5pm (Monday to Thursday) 8:30am – 4pm (Friday) 1-hour lunch (Flexible)

Key Requirements & Preferences:

• Experience and knowledge of working in customs clearance and cross border transactions (essential)
• Good knowledge of trade coordination and the freight sector (Desirable)
• Strong communication skills
• Must have good IT literacy
