Job Title: CNC Sliding Head Machinist
Location: Birmingham (B10)
Hours: 37 p/w Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Pay Rate: £30,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
We are currently recruiting for a CNC Sliding Head Machinist for our client in Birmingham. Europe’s leading manufacturer of airline couplings and linkages, since 1908. Machines & Controls
⦁ 13 Star Sliding Head, 20, 32 and 38 Fanuc controlled machines
⦁ 4 Miyano Fixed Head, 42 or 51 machines with 3 Fanuc controlled and one Mitsubishi controlled.
⦁ 1 Haas ST10 with Fanuc controls
The primary roles of the applicant would be:
⦁ Changing the job being manufactured on a machine. They will be provided with a Proven Program, a Component Drawing and a tooling layout.
⦁ Setting up the machine. They will be expected to change all the tools that need to be changed, ensure that the machine is loaded with material and set the machine count.
⦁ gauge the last part off, rectify any faults and change any tips needed.
⦁ Troubleshoot and resolve problems with the machine and tooling focusing on getting the machine running again. Help determine the reason for the fault and determine actions needed to prevent reoccurrence.
⦁ Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet specifications. Fixing dimensional issues that happen over the course of a run. If dimensions on a component move over the course of the run, the applicant will be required to get them back into the correct limits.
⦁ Maintain accurate records of production output and machine maintenance. Collaborate with other team members to ensure production targets are met.
⦁ Participate in tooling trials and component improvements to reduce cycle times.
⦁ Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean organized work area
The primary roles will not take up all of the applicant’s time. Therefore, when not directly involved in setting they will be expected to assist with the operators work load.
⦁ Gauging parts to ensure that machines are running correctly.
⦁ Load raw materials and unload finished components.
⦁ Clearing swarf traps on machines.
⦁ Cleaning up oil spills and maintaining 5s
CNC Setter/operator requirements:
⦁ Proven experience of setting CNC sliding head machines.
⦁ Experience with fixed heads desirable
⦁ Ability to interpret technical drawings.
⦁ Good communication and teamwork skills.
⦁ Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
⦁ Reliable and an excellent timekeeper.
