We are looking for a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team within the Day Opportunities. This will be based at Newark Community Hub. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-notch catering and cleaning services to the people that attend.

Day Opportunities provide a valuable resource for adults with many differing support needs, including older people, people living with dementia, adults with learning disability and/or autism, brain injury, mental health support needs and long term complex health conditions.
You will assist in the provision of catering services within the Day Opportunity at Newark. Follow menus and ensure food is of good quality, attractively presented, and served on time in appropriate portion sizes. You will prepare vegetables and simple food items as requested and wash up pans, utensils, crockery, and cutlery.
You will Clean catering equipment, surfaces, and storage areas according to the cleaning schedule and undertake general dining room duties as required.
As the catering assistant you will serve meals and support the preparation of a flexible snack service under the direction of the Caterer. You will notify the ‘named person’ of equipment defects and ensure repairs are carried out and order stock in the absence of the Caterer.
You will:
Possess or be willing to gain a certificate in basic hygiene, and any other Day Opportunity training that is mandatory to the role
Willing to train in hygiene, safety, and cooking to an appropriate level for the job
Understanding and appreciation of the needs and feelings of people with any disability, and also show commitment to excellent customer care
Commitment to providing a safe environment for customers and staff, treating all with respect and consideration
Non-judgemental communication with service users and staff, and openness to constructive criticism
Cooking skills or a willingness to learn to act up when the Caterer is absent
Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene
Flexibility and commitment to a need-led service
Willingness to undertake further training
Willingness to wear protective clothing
You will follow procedures
Prepared to keep hair and beards tied back and tidy
You will have related experience in cleaning and catering, using equipment and experience, and experience in working as part of a team, and individually in a similar environment.
