Wells & Co. has reinvented itself with a brand new 30000 hl/annum state of the art brewery with bar, restaurant and visitors centre on the edge of Bedford. The brewery started producing last summer and demand is so great we need to expand the team.
The Role:
Reporting to the Lead Brewer, you will be part of a small team responsible for all aspects of the beer production process and day-to-day operations of the brewery. Naturally, you will spend a great deal of time on the production floor but that’s not to say the role won’t involve many different tasks.
- Working with Assistant Brewer to ensure optimal shift performance
- Working with the Senior Brewer & Lead Brewer on problem solving
- Evaluating raw materials and in-process beer to ensure they meet the specific quality, including ERP data entry
- Completing OH&S, quality, and batch management paperwork for each operation
- Assist development of new recipes and beer to meet market demand
- Assisting in the packaging operations as directed
- Showcasing the quality of what you are producing via guided brewery tours to both the public and our customers
- Operate the microbrewery
- Mentoring other members of the team to fulfil training & development plans
- Promoting a ‘safety first’ working environment and challenging ways of work to improve
What we are looking for:
- A passion for the Brewing industry and a love for Beer!
- Relevant degree in Brewing, Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Science combined with 2-3 years experience in a brewery
- Formal qualification, either the Institute of Brewing and Distilling Diploma or Certificate in Brewing
- Hands-on practical approach. Engineering and mechanical skills will be useful to maintain, fix and install equipment
- A flexible work ethic! You will be required to work shifts and working hours will change subject to schedules and production issues
- An entrepreneurial mind that can create new and exciting recipes to produce award winning beers!
- A confident communication style, as you will be liaising with various stakeholders daily
- Computer literacy and technological skills are key as you will undertake ongoing record keeping, project management and resource management
